Are You Seeking God’s Anointing?

Have you ever felt like you were “in flow” and your words came out with ease and power? Or during a conversation with a nonbeliever you had just the right questions and ideas to share? Or had scripture verses right there on your tongue? Have you ever had a surge of creativity, solved a knotty problem, or gotten a wonderful new insight? Shared a prophecy or word of knowledge that was right on the mark? Times like this are so exhilarating! We feel like we are operating at a level beyond our usual selves, because we are! What we are experiencing is God’s anointing, a wonderful gift He is delighted to give to His children.

I know this feeling well. Under the anointing I function at a higher, more effective level.  It isn’t my abilities, but the anointing that gives power to my prayers.  When God has anointed my prayers I have seen miracles: color vision restored, incurable diseases, broken bones, cardiac disease, injured backs, knees, ankles and shoulders, and GI problems healed.  As followers of Jesus we should all desire to have God’s anointing for our life and ministry. The question is – How do we develop and maintain an anointed lifestyle?  Below is how the Lord explained living under the anointing to me.

What is the Anointing?

“Anointing comes in the time I have set so that it will have its maximum effect. When you have been creative, My gift in you has been ignited. When you have had times of discovery, it has been by My anointing upon you. When you have prayed and seen the miraculous, that too was My anointing. There are anointings that activate your gifts in a time of need. This is where I release the fullness of My power and glory. I freely give it when and only when it is perfectly timed and directed.

So, seek the anointing. You should recognize that you need it and ask for it, seek it, and receive it. This is by faith. You must believe that I freely give you the anointing, and you must act as if you are under the anointing–that is, not in your strength, your wisdom, or even your knowledge.

Developing and Releasing Your Anointing

There is also your overall anointing – the anointing on your life. This is the empowering and release of who you truly are. You have seen parts of this anointing, you have even acted in it. But, it is yet to be fully realized and released.

Don’t feel like you have missed it. Rather, embrace My life in you to prepare you. For My desire is success. My desire is that you fully succeed in the role and anointed work I have for you.

Copy no one, be My original.  Focus on Me, and I will reveal, I will release what you can do. Practice, grow, learn as much as you can about Me and My ways. For that part of Me that is your inspiration is also your gifting.

Don’t be impatient. Focus on Me each day.  Follow Me, so that you can be like Me. The anointing I have begun to release in you will be released in proportion to your intimacy and dependency on Me.  Press on to My upward call to be with Me in all things.”

I believe that living out of Jesus’ anointing is not only possible, but available to all of us.  Anointed life and ministry occur when we seek the anointing, choose to believe we have received His empowering anointing and act like we believe.
